We recently welcomed the beautiful antiquarian and second hand bookshop, Keel Row Books to Park View, and it inspired us to get our heads buried back into some great reads this August. Suzie Winsor Bookworm Bookmarks at the ready!
We're also feeling inspired by a new podcast; Sara & Cariad's Weirdos Book Club. We loved listening to Monica Heisey on episode two, as we read her book Really Good, Actually, last month.
Here are the books in the Bellwoods Library this month...
1. I'm Sorry You Feel That Way by Rebecca Wait
Who doesn't love a story of a dysfunctional family full of neurodivergent and relatable characters. This gem will have you laughing and booking therapy sessions at the same time. We couldn't put it down.
2. Dear Dolly by Dolly Alderton
The latest book from Her Millennial Royal Highness, Dolly Alderton. This compilation of agony aunt letters and replies from her Sunday Times column provides all the life advice we need.
3. Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin
This one follows video gamers Sadie and Sam over 30 years as they achieve a successful career in the gaming industry. It's a love story but it's so much more than that and you don't even need to like video games to enjoy this book. The characters will stay with you, we loved them.
4. One Day I Shall Astonish the World by Nina Stibbe
This is a story about a friendship of convenience between colleagues Susan and Norma. The book spans much of their lifetime with some 1990's nostalgia thrown in which we loved. It's dark and witty with somewhat unlikeable characters. See what you think!
