This Give Back Friday, 25th October, we’re donating 10% of sales in our Whitley Bay store and at Bellwoods Online to the Building Futures East Emergency Food Bank in Walker, Newcastle upon Tyne.
Building Futures East is located on Walker Riverside in the East End of Newcastle. Since 2007, they’ve been dedicated to transforming lives in some of the most disadvantaged communities in North of Tyne. We've been supporters of their sister project East End Women since we opened, but right now, many families in our local community are struggling to make ends meet so we want to try and do more.

The sharp rise in food and energy costs has pushed more households into poverty, and the Building Futures Emergency Food Bank is a lifeline for those in crisis, providing weekly emergency food parcels and hygiene products, to families in the Walker and Byker area.
The Building Futures East mission is simple: to bring hope and positive change to those who need it most. Through a wide range of services—including benefits advice, debt support, employment guidance, basic skills training, health checks, wellbeing support, vocational training, domestic abuse services, and emergency food support—they help people build better futures for themselves and their families.
The food bank is almost entirely reliant upon donations from the public in order to keep the shelves stocked and are only able to maintain this service thanks to the dedicated team of volunteers who help run the food bank, pack bags and deliver parcels out into the community.
Alongside your purchase at Bellwoods Lifestyle Store, if you’d like to bring a donation of long life food to the shop this weekend (tinned meat or fish, tinned fruit and veg, cereals, grains, biscuits etc) we’d gratefully pass it on. We'll also be donating a box of Bellwoods stock to support the Building Futures Christmas Appeal, for families and children in the area.
