As many of you know, an integral part of Bellwoods is supporting our community in the small ways we’re able to - this includes being a drop off point for a local emergency food bank, East End Women.
The East End Women is part of Building Futures East, and exists to support women and children residing within East Newcastle and Wallsend. The project provides a range of therapeutic and skills sessions delivered in a safe and welcoming environment. This includes creative and well-being workshops, practical courses and social activities. East End Women also deliver a domestic abuse support programme for women who want to understand and recover from their experiences.
We’ve been a drop off point for their Food bank since we opened the shop and also donate end of line items and any free items we receive from our brands and makers to be used in their Christmas appeals and Freedom Programme.
They support over 100 people a week with food, period products, and much more.
With the current cost of living crisis, they’re needed now more than ever.
You can support East End Women by bringing a donation to the shop during our opening hours - right now, they’re most in need of milk, juice, tinned meats, fish and potatoes, but anything you have will be welcome - or look out for another drop off point closer to you.
